19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a torrid season, achieving just one win at the big events and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates he has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my child her name, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

His defensive strategy and recurring emotional displays on court had led observers to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and compete positively, reinforced by an better serving game.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his initial ATP Tour title, took control to push for a third set.

He saved 4 early break points in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he earned victory with a shot at the net area, with his opponent failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
